The Costumes
The two actors are to be wearing casual clothes for a majority of the narrative, which is supposed to be indicitive that they are in a point in their relationship where they do no not see it neccecary to dress smart when seeing each other, as if they are comfortable around each other. Whether this is clear in the footage shot is something I am not sure on, I feel that if I had time I would have re-shot the dinner scene with each of them eating in more formal clothes, to represent a formal occasion. One thing we were careful on was to make sure that the actor who played the man wore different clothes when he was throwing the bottle out to sea than to when he was dating his partner. This was to give the idea that it was a different time period, and also to make it less obvious that much of the video was shot on the same day.
Perhaps unusually, our choices of costumes were not specifically designed to objectify the female (or, for that matter, male) actors or performers in our video. Indeed in general the costumes served a purely utilitarian purpose, that is to enhance the narrative, so while they were considred over somewhat, sexualisation was not a factor.

The reasons behind the props
There is much symbolism within our props. A feminist film critic would point out that we make heavy use of phallic symbols and sexual imagery - which makes ours a pretty typical music video. However, we do not objectify our performers or actors as much as might be expected, indeed we go against the status quo by making ours a very personal story. So the choice of props are typical in one way, atypical in another.
